Overview:

We are looking to recruit someone who has a background in customer service. Someone who understands what it means to go the extra mile, and someone who wants to get started in IT. But most of all - because it is a big learning curve, we are looking for someone with drive and a passion to succeed.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work as part of a team to provide technical support for customers’ existing hardware and/or software installations and resolve as soon as reasonable possible using the resources available to you 
  • Answer customer phone calls, log support tickets and work on them through to resolution 
  • Assist to Build and Configure new hardware including Routers and Wireless, Switches, Servers, PC’s and Laptops 
  • Install, configure and support Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10 Professional or higher) as well as basic support for Server applications such as Microsoft email and database applications 
  • Respond to alerts from our monitoring system to provide Pro-Active maintenance, resulting in less outages and downtime for our customers 

What we are looking for: 
Skills and qualities: [essential:] 

  • A solid telephone manner - excellent communication skills 
  • An interest in IT and the desire to start and build a career with IT Support 
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Desktop operating systems (Windows 10 or higher) 
  • Eagerness to learn more and get certified on our core products including Desktops, Servers and networking hardware
  • Demonstrate a good level of troubleshooting and show the ability to diagnose and resolve potentially complex issues through to their resolution 
  • Excellent and friendly attitude when dealing with customers both on the phone and in person, as well as the ability to explain potentially complicated issues in a way customers can understand 
  • Excellent writing skills. Most of your work will be written and customer facing (emails, documentation etc.) 
  • Be able to demonstrate your ability to work as part of a team to resolve potentially complex issues, but also work on your own to perform installations and project work when required 

Desirable skills: 

  • As a Trainee Support Technician, you will learn from the team getting to grips with how to support our clients, answering telephone calls, building rapport and relationships, whilst solving their IT issues 
  • Whilst you will work towards a hybrid working arrangement, you will initially work full time from our offices located in Hersham, Surrey getting up to speed with the role 

Experience:

  • Microsoft 365 related certifications
  • CompTIA A+

Entry requirements: 

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject 
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above) 
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:

  • £16,500 per annum.
